About our Worship

As a congregation in the tradition of the historic Church of England, Church of the Savior worships using a format consistent with its heritage. We gather, pray, sing songs of praise and adoration from both traditional and contemporary sources, hear Scripture readings and preaching, and receive Holy Communion.

All songs and other parts of the worship are projected on an overhead screen to make the service easy to follow. Our style is informal, with chairs instead of pews and an open sanctuary where people are free to move around during worship.

Ministry to Children

Church of the Savior welcomes children of all ages in our weekly worship. Nursery care is also offered for children under age 3, if parents wish to use it.

Parents and children are encouraged to worship together as we gather and sing songs of praise until the time when the Scripture lessons are read, usually about the first twenty minutes of the service. At that time school-aged children are typically dismissed to children’s Christian formation time. Through Bible stories, crafts, and interactive activities, children are taught elements of the Christian life.

Children typically remain in worship during the month of August and on occasional other Sundays throughout the year.

The care and well-being of children is of vital importance to us at Church of the Savior. To that end, the Church of the Savior Vestry (Board) has adopted a comprehensive Children’s Ministry Policy. You may view that policy here.
