The Story Behind the Music

Give thanks to the Lord, our God and King!

Dear family at COTS,

I was encouraged to give a little background information as to how and why I have written these two selections to be used as liturgical music during our services on Sunday morning.

First, God asked me to step away from a music job that would have had me performing secular music almost 3 weekends a month for the rest of 2026. I originally thought this would be possible in addition to my other commitments (being a dad, husband, homeowner, a full-time teacher, senior warden, and a music minister). But ultimately God said to remove the extra paid performing from my plate.

God has made me a musician. I feel most alive when I am playing music. So, I asked the LORD, “what do you want me to do?” He said, “I want you to compose music.” I got started by praying and sitting at the piano. Two songs have been created up to this point. On this webpage are the audio files and sheet music necessary to learn and practice so that we could be ready soon to kick this off in August or September of 2026.

My hope is that you will worship the LORD as you learn and sing or say the text from the ACNA BCP 2019 edition.
